He discovered the grass is only greener here (it’s blue in Kentucky), so he returned to again take charge of his 1954 green Hudson Hornet that had been in storage, refilled his pipe, and is continuing his smokin’ ways. Here is what he recently told us at the Sports Paper.

Bumerton sees all

Wow, Big Dawg, somebody actually beat Lonnie Sharkey in the finals of a Kitsap Scratch Bowlers Association tournament. Sharkey, Kitsap County’s best bowler, and maybe the best bowler in the state, led all the way to the finals of the Tony’s Restaurant Open held at All Star Lanes in Silverdale. Then he was blown away when Dean Richards did something that had been done just twice before – bowl a perfect game (300) in the TV finals. His 300 put away Sharkey, who stumbled to a 177, probably because he was shell shocked by what Richards was doing. Richards joins Vern Elkhart and Gabby Galbraith as the only other bowlers to win a KSBO title with a perfect game. “Dean did it bowling two handed after he bowled the qualifying with one hand which is a pretty amazing feat,” said Alison Eoff, secretary/treasure of KSBO. “He said that he was very nervous as this was his first one with two hands.” Big Dawg, You could not roll a 300 even if they allowed you to count three games toward a possible 300. Paul Andrews took the George Shafer Memorial 205-and-Under Division. Andrews led all the way through qualifying and stopped Darrell Scott in the TV finals, 198-125. The KSBO crowd was back at it today at Laurel Lanes in Port Angeles for the Lakeside Industries and the Seven Cedars Casino 205-and-Under Division. Entries for the Swiss Trio Tournament are now being accepted by calling Eoff at (360) 373-3771 or at aeoff@wavecable.com.

Bumming around town with Bill Bumerton Bumerton is a retired Navy fighter pilot who had been missing in action for…

[2

post-1127","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-bumerton
["GET
