He discovered the grass is only greener here (it’s blue in Kentucky), so he returned to again take charge of his 1954 green Hudson Hornet that had been in storage, refilled his pipe, and is continuing his smokin’ ways. Here is what he recently told us at the Sports Paper.

Bumerton sees all

Do you think Big Dawg 50 years from now that some kid will come along in Kitsap County and beat the Kitsap Scratch Bowlers Association (KSBO) record that Lonnie Sharkey keeps improving on? I mean Sharkey is unreal. Records are made to be broken, but Sharkey is ridiculous. He’s so good it may take hundreds of years for somebody to break his record, which is now at 106 KSBO Titles after winning the Certified Heating Open at Laurel Lanes in Port Angeles. Sharkey was second after the semifinals, but he beat Mike VanWinkle 246-223 and then topped Jimmie Dillingham, the top qualifier, in the TV finale 214-176. Chuck Ludwig won the Bill’s Auto Detailing 205-and-Under Division by stopping Tanner Clemens in the TV Finale, 194-192. … I hear Big Dawg that you are not active on Twitter, whatever t hat is. You are kind of a tweet, so that should fit you. I understand from what you say that a guy who covers the Buffalo Bills is constantly on Twitter. He probably needs to get a life, don’t you think? Come to think of it, so should you. … The Dallas-Seachickens game Sunday should be a dandy. The Cowboys have balanced out their usual one-sided passing offense with a running game too and might give the Seachickens a tussle. I’m looking at an upset. Maybe 34-31 for the Cowboys. … The question of the high school football season is will North Kitsap ever taste defeat? The Vikings of coach Jeff Weible are looking good. The real test, though, and you know this Big Dawg, is can they compete once they get out of this area and into the state playoffs? That is yet to be determined. Our teams here, Big Dawg, don’t usually fare well when they get to the state playoffs. So we’ll see. Speaking of taste, go fetch me a tall latte, Big Dawg.

Bumming around town with Bill Bumerton Bumerton is a retired Navy fighter pilot who had been missing…

[2

post-1418","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-bumerton
["GET
