The world continues to boil over. The Huckster picks a vice president running mate who would if he could send this country back to biblical times with women being second-class citizens at best and gay people being sent to I-don\u2019t-want-to-know where but it wouldn\u2019t be good, a man driving a truck loaded with enough weapons to riddle an army post runs down folks on a French holiday outing and kills as many as he can, and Turkey is in the middle of a military coup that will have numerous ramifications for the war that is searing hot along its border.<\/p>\n

The rise of a third-party candidate is an indication that the voting public is sick and tired of deciding between the two untrustworthily candidates of the two biggest political parties, which makes the broil even steamer.<\/p>\n

And on a less troublesome front, two sons of the late Barry Ackerly, the former Sonics\u2019 owner, let it be known that they would like to front an effort to return the Sonics to Seattle.<\/p>\n

So it goes on a Friday heading into the weekend that will see the Mariners open the second half of the baseball season one game above .500 with executives with the club not knowing whether to sell off their best assets to stock a depleted farm system or to buy some assets to bolster a team that has stumbled some because of injuries to its pitching staff, which soon could be back to full strength, and try to make a strong run to the postseason.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Von Miller gets the biggest non-quarterback contract in NFL history with $70 million guaranteed, Russell Wilson gets married and shock jocks on the\u00a0 radio debate whether that will have an adverse effect on his quarterbacking skills, and Mark Trumbo becomes the latest among many ex-Mariners to explode in offensive brilliance once there is an uniform change.<\/p>\n

I could have saved the shock jocks some time on the Wilson thing. My getting married 100 years ago didn\u2019t affect my quarterbacking skills, those were gone long before, but it did slow down my pinochle and my pinball machine skills that earned me beer money in my college days.<\/p>\n

So, yes, don\u2019t expect Russell to be as sharp this year \u2013 at pinochle and pinball.<\/p>\n

A big flying menace just came into an open window and is menacing me, so I\u2019m going to get out of here before it attacks and before I have a heart attack from all that is boiling over around us the world.<\/p>\n
