Husky football is in good hands with coach Kalen DeBoer. He and his staff are building a monster for the coming football season and have eyes on making the college football playoffs. They are in the process of building a solid defensive backend, which was a major weakness last year in an 11-2 season that that included a beating of Texas in the Alamo Bowl. On the downside is the Husky basketball program under coach Mike Hopkins. The program again was hit by a good percentage of the roster leaving the program through the transfer portal. Eight players left, which should tell you all you need to know. I believe about the same number left the previous season. You probably are going to lose some players no matter how good a coach you are and how good your program is. But to lose most of the roster in consecutive years is telling. … Will the Seahawks draft a quarterback in the upcoming NFL draft April 27-29? I think they will. They need somebody with pedigree to get in the program and let him simmer for a couple years before taking over as the starter. It is unlikely the Seahawks will get any of the top three or four that are getting all the attention, but there has to be somebody in the draft – maybe Jack Haener? – that could fit the bill … Boy, the Kraken didn’t get any breaks. The Seattle hockey team has to face the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche in first round action, a best of seven games, that begins April 18 in Colorado at 7 p.m. Interestingly, the Kraken beat Colorado two of three games in regular season. Both of Kraken’s wins were 3-2, one in overtime, in Colorado. Colorado won the lone game at Climate Pledge Arena in a 2-1 shootout. I would guess it will be tough to beat the defending champions. The Kraken will have to play their best all the time to stage the upset. … Probably the most interesting sports show this coming year will be how Seattle Storm performs with a roster makeover that no longer has its two superstars in Sue Bird (retired) and Breanna Stewart who left in free agency to the New York liberty. I hope they don’t get bashed around. But it’s likely. As for the top contenders in the WNBA it is the Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces, both are loaded. ,,, Hey, Jarred Kelenic finally overcame his emotions and has become the talent he was always projected to be. Going into tonight’s game with Colorado, Kelenic has belted home runs in four consecutive games. And his homers are not cheap ones. When he hits ‘em, they are rockets flying into thin air. It’s amazing to watch his transformation. Now, if Julio gets going and the pitching straightens out just a bit, who knows? Maybe the Mariners can win 95 games and be a threat to go deep in the playoffs. Yes, it’s early. But it’s good to dream, don’t you think? That’s it for today. Stay safe.

Be well pal.

Be careful out there.

Have a great day.

You are loved.

TERRY MOSHER TOP OF THE TOWN ‑ It appears that two Washington Husky programs are going in opposite directions.
