I have a firm belief in the existence of God – actually it’s not a belief. I know God exists.

So it’s welcoming to me to have that reconfirmed. I was talking to one of my nieces – Grace – this morning to see how the family back in Richburg, N.Y. is doing. Grace’s older brother David had a terrible thing happen when his wife Patty died suddenly of a massive heart attack. They had just purchased a home in Oklahoma and were preparing to leave and pick up the keys to it when she fell to the floor and died.

Patty Mosher and grandchild Haley

There are 14 children in that family ‑ my older brother Ray and his wife Peggy – and immediately family members, including cousins, swarmed to David’s side from all parts of the country.

David and Greg, a brother, were yesterday making the drive from Oklahoma to Memphis, Tenn. where David has his main home when they stopped at a fast-food establishment to get something to eat.

There was a long line and while they stood in it a woman suddenly appeared and tapped David on the shoulder and said, “Don’t worry, everything will be okay.” She then disappeared.

Greg was dumbfounded and turned and asked David what the woman said. When David told him he also added, “I guess I looked sad.”

Greg said, “You don’t look sad. You don’t look any different than anybody else in line.”

They both finally determined it was a woman of God who was there to reassure David.

I believe they are right. It may even have been a message from his wife, that it was okay and to move on with his life. And David has decided he will. He had just recently retired from his job in Memphis and had taken a job similar to that in Oklahoma and he and his wife were about to settle into the home in Oklahoma when she died.

David said he wants to keep the home Patty had picked out and try to continue on the best he can. They had a nearly perfect marriage and he has four children who love him. It’s sad and a terrible thing to lose somebody you have been with for nearly 45 years, but life needs to be lived and he will do it.

I, of course, have had a similar incident when our granddaughter – Junior – was killed on May 26, 1989. And I have written about this numerous times. As Mary, our second son Todd and I scrambled to Sea-Tac to pick up Wendy, our daughter, who was flying in from Spokane (the accident that caused Junior’s death happened in Idaho), we got on the escalator going down to the underground train to the South Terminal at Sea-Tac.

As we got to the bottom of the escalator I began hearing the music. Amazing Grace was being played and then telepathy the following words were planted in my mind:
“Don’t worry about me, I walk with the grace of God.”

I understood the words were from Junior. How I knew is difficult to explain. You can’t possible understand unless you have had a similar thing happen to you. But it was real and I knew it was Junior.

Just then the underground train arrived and the first person out of it was Wendy. She was every emotional and collapsed into the arms of Mary. Wendy later said that on the flight from Spokane, Junior was outside the plane, her face pressed against the window looking at Wendy. She was with the plane all the way to Seattle.

I cannot vouch for the truth of that because, obviously, I was not there. But I know the rest is true because I experienced it.

It took me about a year of soul-searching before I finally figured things out and realized Junior was an Angel sent to straighten out our family dynamics. It was almost like Jesus dying on the cross for our sins.

The search ended when I had a spiritual awakening. For six days things literally poured out of my head and I watched as all the defense mechanisms I had built up as a result of my mother dying when I was young, my father remarrying a year later, our move from New York to Ferndale, Wa. and the ensuring dark years I endured, came pouring out. I cried for all six days and on the seventh day, en route by ferry to the Kingdome to cover a Seattle Mariner baseball game I experienced the unbelievable joy and blessing of true love.

I remember I opened all the windows on the car, turned up the music and just wallowed in peace, and calm while true love filled my all my body cells. It was wonderful to experience what it is like on the “other side”, or what I call home.

There have been other spiritual incidents in my life that I also have written about. I have also talked about another brother – Ronnie – who along with his wife Barbara has experienced spiritual things.

God does exist. I have no doubt. And I feel I have been carefully watched over since I was very young. I don’t know why. That is a great mystery to me. And I have not always been the best person as I have journeyed along to get to this point. I think for about 30 years I was off the spiritual path I was destined to follow. I’m back on it now, but it doesn’t mean that life is easy. It’s not meant to be. It’s meant to test you. It’s meant to teach you things that can lead you to be a better soul and become closer to God, which is the whole idea.

It’s not been fun for me to be 3,000 miles away from my nephew David and not be able to comfort him. But because he comes from a very large family, he has plenty of support. They, as I said, have come from many parts of America to hold him in their arms.

And, of course, he has been reassured from somebody on the other side, probably his wife, that it will be okay.

That is the greatest comfort he can have.

Be well pal.

Be careful out there.

Have a great day.

You are loved.

It’s nice and feels good to have confirmed the existence of the spiritual world, especially in an age when…

[12,3,16

post-633","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-column","category-mosher","category-top-stories
["GET
