January 10 ‑ Don Dickens, who played basketball for Les Eathorne at East High, at the age of 48, after a 5-year battle with cancer. Dickens graduated from East in 1977. He worked as an usher at Univeristy of Washington football games and was on the gate during Seattle Mariners’ spring training.
