South Kitsap senior Mason Villarma was the only winner for a West Sound high school after the first day of the West Central 4A District Track and Field meet held at French field at Kent-Meridian High School.

Villarma, who established the South Kitsap record for the 1600 at the Narrows League 4A meet a week ago when he ran it in 4:12.44 ran the same event in 4:16.99 to win it.

Nolan Van Amen, a sophomore at SK, finished second in the shot put with a toss of 54-06. Van Amen has a career best of 56-10.

Van Amen’s brother Chandler, a SK senior, took second in the javelin to teammate Cole Sunkel, who threw the spear 189-11. Van Amen went 170-05.

On the girl’s side, Alexus Richardson, a SK senor, was third in the discus at 117-11, an improvement of over 14 feet by Richardson this season. Her senior teammate, Shannon Laupola, was fifth at 105-09.

At the 3A Sea-King Championships on Wednesday at the Southwest Athletic Complex in West Seattle, Bainbridge senior Mikelle Ackerley  took second in the 800 with a season-best time of  2:14.52, and the Bainbridge 1600 relay team of Lindsay Wienkers, Aerin Amore, Natalie Ackerley and Mikelle Ackerley took second in the prelims with a time of 4:03.67.
