TERRY MOSHER

So while the multitudes gather along the shores of Puget Sound to watch grown men hit a little white ball and the Orcas invade coastal waters looking for food, a young man filled with hate gets up form his seat at church and empties his gun and reloads and empties it again and people of a different color drop like flies, most of them dead.

The world sighs, takes a deep breath, and flips the TV channel to watch women kick a soccer ball around, occasionally knocking one into a net, and on radio sports shock talk jocks with golden voices express outrage when a baseball team steals inside information from another baseball team, but there is nothing from those same voices when at the same time the Chinese steal enough inside U.S. Government information as to pose a threat to world peace.

What a weird world.

Where have we gone wrong, where are we headed?

The campaign to replace our president has begun and enough weirdoes have jumped into the race to keep Jon Stewart and other comics with enough material to last for a long time.

When Donald Trump is not the weirdest of the weird of the presidential candidates with a stake in this race you know something is not right with this world. We might check to see if our planet has not changed obit and winters are now summers and summers are winters.

Crows, assorted other birds, squirrels and raccoons ravish the cherry tree in the backyard and that is not even close to the ravish going on elsewhere in our world. The Middle East is so full of combatants killing each other and all the innocents that cannot flee that it’s difficult to tell the difference between them as the slaughter goes on.

Meanwhile, grown men continue to hit that little white ball as we gather by the thousands to yell their names and cheer and groan when things go right for them and when they don’t.

If all of that isn’t weird enough, we have a white woman posing as a black in a black organization, which upsets all the weird and ugly thoughts we have about racism that still pervades our world.

Does it matter the color of her skin? Maybe those grown men striking that little ball should be hitting a black ball and not a white ball?

The Pope looks at our world and sees a pile of filth. He is talking about the dangers of climate and how we have misused Earth’s natural resources to the point it is causing harm that is beyond repair, but he could also be talking about the weirdness, the whackos, the hatred inspired by religion and by difference in color and nationality that are also destroying our world and inflicting relentless pain and suffering to millions of us.

In his last recorded song, the late Hank Williams sang, “I’ll never get out of this world alive” and he was right. It is getting to the point now, though, that some of us may wish to leave the world to escape the whackos, the weirdness, the hatred, the ugliness.

It may be a coward’s way out.  But at least it’s a way out.

Be well pal.

Be careful out there.

Have a great day.

You are loved.
