Sierra Adams, a senior at Olympic High School, is making a late run in the discus and as competitors get ready for the state 2A track and field meet his weekend she is now in fourth place in the state with a throw of 134 feet, eight inches.

Adams made that throw in winning the event at last weekend’s West Central District Track and Field Meet. She is now just second in the state in the 2A classification behind the 142-01 throw of Burlington-Edison’s Jaden Shadle. They will clash in the state meet that will be held starting Thursday and running through Saturday at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

Nolan Van Amen also continues to impress. The South Kitsap Junior broke the school record in the shot put last Thursday and then on Saturday broke his own school record in the discus with a toss of 174 feet, five inches to win the 4A West Central/Southwest District championship held at Kent Meridian High School in Kent.
