Sharkey rolls to his 112th KSBO title

Lonnie Sharkey, at the least, should be featured in Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd. He is setting a bowling record that probably will never be matched and for two decades now has been the best amateur bowler on the Olympic Peninsula.

Just recently, Sharkey won his 112^th Kitsap Scratch Bowlers Association title, taking down top qualifier Curtis Messer 242-217 in the TV Finale of the Longhouse Market * Deli Open on Laurel Lanes in Port Angeles.

Sharkey, a 1973 graduate of Central Kitsap, set the Kitsap County bowling record in 2005 for a three-game series with an 879, rolling consecutive 300 games to start the series at All Star Lanes in Silverdale.

In the Lakeside Industries 205-and-under-Division , Bob Zurbrugg, the top qualifier, defeated Bill Bachteler 245-137 in the final match to earn his first title of the season.

Next up for KSBO is the Quad Swiss Tournament sponsored by Hi-Joy Bowl and Artisan Title and Mosaic that will be held Nov. 18 at Hi-Joy Bowl in Port Orchard .
