Steve Coburn is right. Only those horses that have enough points to qualify for the Kentucky Derby should be allowed to compete in all three Triple Crown races. I know the co-owner of California Chrome sounded like sour grapes after his horse was denied the Triple Crown with a fourth-place tie in the Belmont Stakes, but he is absolutely right. Be a man, run in all three and let’s see who the best horse is.

Belmont winner Tonalist and the second place horse Commissioner did not run in the Derby or the Preakness and Medal Count, which placed third, did not run in the Preakness,  and that is the rub. They were fresh and California Chrome was not. It’s unfair. Make all the Belmont contenders run in the Derby and Preakness

Coburn is right on this.
