The United States soccer team was just seconds away from advancing to the final 16 in the 2014 world Cup, and then it all blew up. Leading Portugal 2-1, the Yanks gave up a long pass, a cross and a header for the tying goal that forces them to escape from the powerful grips of Germany to advance.

If the U.S. beats Germany or gains a draw it will advance to the final 16. But that is a big if.

How you can allow a goal like that with just seconds left is almost unforgiveable. And if the U.S. does not advance, it will be remembered for a long, long time as just another moment in along history of World Cup denial for the Yanks.
