Yahoo Sports has announced that Tim Duncan has decided to stay another year with the San Antonio Spurs, reportedly picking up his player option for next season at $10.3 million.

I say, great. Even though Duncan will be 39 next year and there is a chance he will not perform as well as he has because of his age, he is entitled to rest on his laurels if he desires and pick up some final big money.

Good for him.

But it’s probably better to say that Duncan will play his heart out in what will likely be his final year in the NBA. He’s just built that way. Either way, I feel good that he has decided to come back and give it one more try.
