Bremerton junior Christine Foresha had a good day and led several athletes who won two events Saturday at Bremerton Memorial Stadium during the Olympic League 2A Sub-District Track and Field meet.

Foresha established PRs this season in winning the 100 (12.55) and the 200 (25.83). Foresha also ran the second leg of Bremerton’s winning 400 relay team that won in a time of 50.83 and was the anchor of the Knight’s 1600 relay that finished third.

Also winning two events for the girls were Port Angeles freshman Gracie Long in the 1600 (5:22.50) and 3200 (12:09.0), Kingston sophomore Taylor Seaman in the 100 hurdles (15.92) and 300 hurdles (47.43), Olympic junior Sierra Adams in the shot put (35-01.25) and discus (99-11) and sophomore Danielle Rose Monzon in the long jump (16-06.25) and triple jump 34-09.5).

Port Angeles senior Peter Butler had two sterling duels with Sequim junior Brendon Despain in the 1600 and 3200, winning both of them. Butler ran a 4; 29.61 in the 1600 (Despain ran a 4:31.77) and Butler clocked 9:49.10 in the 3200 (Despain ran a 9:49.37).

Sequim junior Oscar Herrera split two exciting hurdle races with Harvard-bound Garrett Rouser, senior from Kingston. Herrera won the 110 hurdles (15.23 to 15.65) and Rouser returned the favor in the 300 hurdles (38.96) to 39.56).

Jesse Smith, a Bremerton freshman, soared a foot higher than his previous best this season to win the pole vault in an upset, going 13 feet, three inches. The West Sound leader this season has been Sequim senior Joshua Cibene at 13-09, but he failed to make a height.

The long jump competition this season has been sizzling between two seniors – Olympic’s Keshun McGee and North Kitsap’s Zachary Whittaker – and it continued hot in this meet. McGee won the long jump by a half-inch (21-02 to 21-01.5) and Whittaker regained the West Sound triple jump lead by a quarter-inch over McGee, winning the event with a 46-00.25 while McGee took second at 44-07.5.

As expected, North Kitsap powered to both the boy’s and girl’s sub-district titles. The Vikings scored 121 points to just edge surprising Sequim by a half-point (120.5) and the Viking girls totaled 163 points to run away from second place Olympic, which scored 99.

The West Central District 2A meet will be held May 22-23 at Phil Pugh Stadium at North Mason High School.

At the West Central 1A Sub-District, also at Bremerton Memorial Stadium, Klahowya senior Trent Mazelli on three events, the 400 (52.4), 800 (2:02.47 and 1600 (4:30.37). He held off Port Townsend senior Ryan Clarke in the 1600 (4:3084), who went on to win the 3200 (10:19.10)

Klahowya junior Gavin Hamblet doubled in the hurdles, taking the 110 (18.88) and 300 (44.30).

Hamblet and Mazelli also each ran a leg on the winning 1600 relay team (3:42.31).

Port Townsend junior Koby Weidner won the 100 (11.28), the 200 (23.20) and was on the winning 400 relay (45.78).

Coupeville junior Makana Stone won the 200 (26.97) and the 400 (1:00.69).

Klahowya freshman Holly Rouse just missed winning three events. She won the 800 (2:39.42) and the 1600 (12.48.09) and placed second in the 1600 (5:58.10).

Rouse teammate Erika Powell, a sophomore, won the 100 hurdles (18.95) and the 300 hurdles (55.70).

Klahowya just missed winning the two team championships. The Eagles ran away with the Girl’s title, scoring 97 points, and finished second in the boy’s team race to Port Townsend, 95-92.
