Ray Mosher with grave stone for our Great, Great grandmother, wife of Aaron Mosher, killed in Civil War while with the New York Volunteers

RAY MOSHER

By Terry Mosher

This was taken in August of 2015 when my oldest brother finally was able to find the grave for our great, great grandmother, Charlotte Mosher Beaty in an old county cemetery in a field near Austinburg, Pennsylvania. I had gone with him some weeks earlier when I was back in New York State where he lives, searching for our ancestors in Pennsylvania. We found several, but missed on our great grandfather Aaron Wing and Charlotte. He found Aaron Wing and, also, Charlotte.  Charlotte remarried after our great, great grandfather, Aaron Mosher, was killed in the civil war just two weeks after he enlisted with the New York Volunteers. He was killed in battle near Falls Church, Virginia at Pelgram Farms in 1864. His body was never found. Many of those killed were never found and there are big common graves where the unidentified are buried. My brother Ray will be 86 on Oct. 2. He is recovering at home in Richburg, N.Y. from two major surgeries held this year, one for heart and other for colon cancer. He and wife Peggy, who died July 4, 2015, had 14 kids, 13 of whom survive. Ray was a senior engineer in his work career. He played football and baseball as a high school kid and right up until his recent surgeries was very active, even chopping wood for his wood furnace.
