TERRY MOSHER

There is more than one thing that will make or break this presidential election, which is the most important one in our 240-year history because of who is running, but there is one that is the most important.

Those tax returns, the ones that Donald Trump refuses to release as has been the custom since the early 1970s, could be the deal-breaker in this divisive election. He has said that releasing them would hurt him. Well, if that is so why would you want to vote for the guy knowing that there is something in them that would cause you to not vote for him?

So what is Trump hiding?

Is he hiding the fact that he is not as worth as much as he claims. We know from other stories that have been printed that Trump has a habit of inflating the value of his assets when it comes to selling them and deflating them when it comes to them being assessed for taxation purposes. He has been sued by state, city and county governments over this deceitful habit and boosts that he usually settles for less than would normally be required. In other words, he puts himself above the law so he can enrich himself, and seems to get away with it.

Is he hiding the fact that he does not pay much or any tax?  He is the most dishonest person to ever run for president, so that would seem very probable. How would that make you feel knowing that he pays no tax at all?  So, yes, that would hurt him.

Is he hiding the fact that the Russian oligarchy that exists for the benefit of Putin has loaned him money for different projects? We know from previous stories that American banks will not loan him money because he has defaulted or filed for bankrupt to avoid paying them back, so that is real possibility. In fact, there are stories out there that insist that is true.

If he is indebted to the oligarchy, that would account for Trump saying he would essentially weaken NATO and for him praising Putin for his leadership because to do otherwise would damage the financial relationship he has with the oligarchy in the present and in the future, and if here is one thing we know about Trump is that he exists purely for himself and the money he can make. I call that Trumpism and I believe that Trumpism will eventually sell America’s soul down the river if he gets elected.

If Trumpism is allowed to weaken, or even destroy NATO, Putin would have free rein to move further into Eastern Europe without fear of being confronted by a strong military force. An embolden Russia guided by Putin and aided by Trumpism will raise further fear in Europe and cause an already jittery world financial market to plunge perhaps into a global recession.

This relationship with Putin and the oligarchy that may be hidden in those Trump tax returns should cause the American citizenry to be very jittery. Could Trump just be a puppet with Putin pulling the strings? And if that is so, our democracy and our freedoms are at risk.

If any one of these things are in those tax returns that should be enough to give pause to those who would support him. His lack of transparency is a real danger to us because we really don’t know what or who he really is.

He always talks about how he’s all about the art of the deal and how good he is at it. I would agree and here’s why I agree.

Trump – Trumpism – exists solely to get the best deal for him. So he will do every deceitful thing possible to get that done, even to the extent of being the best con to ever run for president of the United States. He is scamming you. He’s the carnival barker who is inviting you to his freak show. He is the flim-flam man you can see on some corners of New York City streets, inviting you to guess where the bean is. Now you see it, now you don’t. His sleight of hand is worthy of the magician hall of fame.

Trump is the modern version of P.T. Barnum, the man who lived in the 1800s and founded the Barnum & Bailey Circus. Barnum was, among many other things, a politician. He was a showman in the greatest sense of that word and became famous for coining the phase, “There’s a sucker born every minute.”

You who are supporting Trump and his Trumpism are those suckers. You are being conned, scammed and taken for a sucker.  With his silver-gilded tongue and his showman antics, this latest P.T. Barnum is pulling off the greatest fraud in history. Barnum would be extremely proud of Trump. He might even invite him into his freak show.

I will not be suckered. I will not fall for his con game. And I will fight against this dangerous Trumpism for the reasons stated earlier. He is selling America a con and if he completes the sale, America is doomed. Believe me when I say there will be no Roe v. Wade, there will be no separation of church and state, the Constitution will be bent and broken, our influence around the world will be lessened, Russia will expand behind its tanks, the world will shake with fear and the United States of America will be wracked with divisions as racism explodes into full fury and the white elite line up behind the Great One, Trump, and become a firm ruling class that plunders society for the benefit of Trumpism.

This is no joke. I fear what will happen and I fear Russia will try to electronically disrupt the election, perhaps by even changing results. Putin wants Trump in office and you should make no mistake about that.

I fear the great showman will be too much in these debates with Hillary Clinton. She is a good debater, but she has not been up against the likes of this modern P.T. Barnum. He will pull out all the stops and lie his orange head off. It will be a great show, a great freak show, and you are all invited to it.

But beware the flim-flam, the sleight of hand.

With that, I’m outta here. I got some college football to watch to take my mind off this dangerous stuff. Try to be reasonable when you decide to vote this November and remember this is not a kid’s game that is being played out. It’s for real and our country – the greatest and most powerful country in the world –hangs in the balance with how you vote.

Be well pal.

Be careful out there.

Have a great day.

You are loved.
