TERRY MOSHER

TOP OF THE TOWN – What gives with Joe Kennedy? He’s back coaching football at Bremerton High School after a five-year battle that landed at the U.S. Supreme Court where he won. The district paid $1,775 million to Kennedy’s attorneys to settle a suit. He hadn’t coached at Bremerton since 2017 when he was fired for praying on school property after football games. Part of the settlement is the district had to reinstate him as a coach, where he earns $5,304 for being an assistant coach. I don’t think Kennedy made many friends for doing what he did, and if I was the head football coach and was told I had to take him back I would be  ticked. My god, Kennedy is now living in Florida. What is he trying to prove?  You won, take your bows and money and lay on the beach in Florida where the sharks won’t bother you as you pray. Hey, I’m a spiritual person. I pray at least once a day, and God has directed me for much of my life. I have had spiritual experiences that include my dead granddaughter speaking to me, twice I have been told who will win horse races and as a fifth-grader I was told I would marry Mary, and I did18 years later (I had never seen her or knew of her when she walked into the door of the Wintergarden road house in Whatcom County, but I knew instantly who she was (we were married 7 months later and are still married 56 years later). Kennedy could have prayed in private and none of this would have happened. But he did it and must have enjoyed it since he got a lot of publicity for it and there now is a book he wrote available (Average Joe: The Coach Joe Kennedy Story) at Barnes & Noble. I’m pretty sure Kennedy has a love for God, but I don’t agree to what he did. He can thank his lucky stars and the 6-3 conservative majority on the Supreme Court. I would not come back to Bremerton if I had done what he did. I’m guessing he has a huge ego and is not bothered by the dissenters in the Bremerton community. He is likely the first person from Florida coaching at a high school in the state. So it goes…. I’m pretty hard on sports things I see that are not right. And I have been tough on the Mariners as a talented group of players struggled to get to .500 for the first half of the baseball season. They wasted a lot of good pitching by not having the ability to hit and fuel a winning offense. That’s all changed. Since July 25, the Mariners are 18-5, which includes an eight-game win streak, a four-game sweep of the Angels and a three-game sweep of the Astros, all on the road. It seems everybody in the lineup is hitting, but mainly Julio Rodriquez , who has been impossible, collecting 17 hits in four games to break a 98-year-old American League record. The Mariners also have the second-best pitching in the AL. Toronto has a 3.65 ERA and the Mariners are at 3.71. What I have seen during this uprising by the Mariners is one of the best teams in MLB. I believe Atlanta is the best MLB team and I’ll now put the Mariners second. They have an excellent chance of making the World Series. Teams that traditionally make It have excellent pitching. That’s the Mariners in a nutshell. Luis Castillo, George Kirby and Logan Gilbert plus rookie Bryce Miller are outstanding. You need three good ones when you get in those best of five, best of seven series and the Mariners have good ones. They are in the third AL wild card spot right now and just three games away from catching Texas for the AL West Division lead. They are hot and streaking and I’m guessing they are making the Blue Jays, Astros and Rangers nervous. So sit back and enjoy the ride. That’s it for today. Stay safe.

Be well pal.

Be careful out there.

Have a great day.

You are love.
