TOP OF THE TOWN‑ There always seems to be a team around that screws up the best predictions by the best experts. Indiana Pacers, take a bow. After the Pacers rudely dispatched the favored New York Knicks, I spent a lot of time wondering if the run ‘n gun Pacers could run down the Boston Celtics, the team most experts thought would win the NBA championship. I got my answer Tuesday (May 21) when the Pacers should have beaten the Celtics in Boston Garden. They had it won. The Celtics got the ball back with seconds to go, down by 3 points. Jayden Brown hit a contested 3-pointer from the corner with 6.1 seconds left to send it into overtime. It was all Celtics in overtime as they survived what would have been a stunning defeat in the first game of the Eastern Finals. The win, though, puts in question whether Boston can slow down the run ‘n gun Pacers. It’s still up for debate.
