What!

Yeah, what!

You got to read Ken Levine’s blog, which is one of the best in the business. Levine, as you probably know has done radio play-by-play of Seattle Mariner games as well as the Baltimore Orioles and San Diego Padres and has worked with the Dodgers. But he also is an Emmy award winning director, producer and writer. His credentials are too much to include here, but he has written for such shows as Cheers, Frasier and Mash.

Go to Facebook and become friends with him to get clued into his blog and his other postings. He’s great, and I don’t say that about many people.

His latest posting was about “What!” As I read it I realized that you and I use the word a lot more than we think we do. In fact, I normally answer the phone by not saying hello, but “What” or “What’s up?” I don’t like to do the conventional, if I can help it, because I’m sort of a rebel in most things.

As I have written before, I’m not a bandwagon sort of guy, which fits in with being a rebel who doesn’t jump just because everybody else does.

So reading Levine’s “What!” made me smile. And Levine is not trying to be a rebel with his “What!” It’s a decade’s long debate he has with his writing partner over the use of the word in show scripts. I’m probably screwing it up here. It’s best that you just read Levine’s post.

What!
