GARRETT ROUSER

Kingston senior Garrett Rouser ran just off his season best of 39.24 in the 300 hurdles Saturday (April 11) at the Arcadia (California) Invitational, clocking 39.29 to finish fifth in the seeded event. The winning run of 37.91 was put in by Justin Alexander of Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles.

Rouser got some good news last week when he was accepted into school at Harvard where he will compete with the school’s track and field team.

South Kitsap sophomore Nolan Van Amen placed third in the first flight of shot putters at Arcadia, going 54-09. The top thrower was Matt Katnik, a senior from Bellflower St. John Bosco in California. The six-foot-four, 305-pound Katnik, who has signed to compete with USC, threw the shot put a person best 71-03.5. He is only the third California prep thrower to reach 70 feet.
