Any given Saturday is truer this football season than any other in the Pac-12. Except for maybe Washington State, anybody can beat anybody on a given Saturday. I think the Cougars are very dangerous with Gardner Minshew II. He is very accurate and quick with his release and is a perfect fit for Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense. Washington just doesn’t have a good enough offense to compete well every Saturday. I don’t know if it’s the offensive coordinator being too conservative or Jake Browning just not being good enough. Browning has not gotten better the last two seasons. He is what he is. Good enough sometimes. Sometimes not good enough. Arizona State seems to be getting better and better under first-year coach Herm Edwards. So is California under coach Justin Wilcox. Utah is a mystery and Colorado has fallen into a deep hole. I don’t know why, but the Buffs have. UCLA has talent, but is young and it will take more than this year for coach Chip Kelly to get it all together. Bottom line is that the Pac-12 is not a very tough football conference. I don’t know why that is, but it that is the way it is.
